Analyzing the Propagation Behavior of a Gaussian Laser Beam through Seawater and Comparing with Atmosphere
Study of the beam propagation behavior through oceanic media is a challenging subject. In this paper, based on generalized Collins integral, the mean irradiance profile of Gaussian laser beam propagation through ocean is investigated. Power In Special Bucket (PIB) is calculated. Using analytical expressions and calculating seawater transmission, the effects of absorption and scattering on beam ...
متن کاملLaser and Gaussian Beam Propagation and Transformation
Optical engineers and researchers working on optics deal with laser beams and optical systems as usual tools in their specific areas. The knowledge of the special characteristics of the propagation of laser beams through optical systems has to be one of the keystones of their actual work, and the clear definition of their characteristic parameters has an important impact in the success of the a...
متن کاملInfluence of non-gaussian laser beam profiles on proton acceleration
10 12 V/m. The acceleration was found to take place within a few ps only. The beam always is directed normal to the rear surface of the target with an emittance being superior compared to conventional accelerator beams [2, 3]. The laser pulse accelerates electrons to relativistic energies in the front side preplasma formed by the prepulse. They penetrate the target and escape at the rear side. ...
متن کاملGeneralized beam quality factor of aberrated truncated Gaussian laser beams.
We outline a theory for the calculation of the beam quality factor of an aberrated laser beam. We provide closed-form equations that show that the beam quality factor of an aberrated Gaussian beam depends on all primary aberrations except tilt, defocus, and x-astigmatism. The model is verified experimentally by implementing aberrations as digital holograms in the laboratory.
متن کامل3D Gaussian beam modeling
The initial objective was to implement a 3D Gaussian beam model on multi-core, high-performance computing hardware in order to support mid and high frequency applications like reverberation modeling and acoustic channel simulation. As graphic processing unit or GPU hardware rapidly emerged as a compelling platform for such work, my objective became to adapt selected acoustic wave propagation mo...
